Join us for a walk

Our Monthly guided walks take place on the 2nd Saturday of every month leaving Wolsingham Town Hall in the Market Place at 10am.

Something for Everyone!

All guided walks are circular and are between 5 and 10 miles in length. They are open to anyone able to negotiate countryside obstacles such as stiles and gates, and the occasional muddy patch!

Let's Stick Together!

We set off as a group, and we walk as a group! so the pace is set by the slowest walker. Our Walk Leaders take regular stops to allow the back marker to catch up. Once everyone is ready, we set off again - as a group!

(...we also stop for a picnic break at the halfway point so don't forget your snack!)

Our next Guided Walk:

Date: Saturday July 11th 2026

Time: 10:00am

Route: Wolsingham Park Moor

Miles: 6.0

Difficulty: Medium

Walk Leader: David Towndrow

Meeting Point: Wolsingham Town Hall. Please park responsibly. St Annes and Demesne car parks now operate a modest parking fee.

Terrain: Mainly path, farm track, meadow, and monor tarmac roads.

Toilets: Wolsingham town centre (close to meeting point).

Recommended Equipment for this walk: Walking boots, walking pole, a snack and a drink.

Dogs: Dogs are prohibited along a section of this route but provision is made for a short detour for anyone attending with dogs.

Details: Starting at Wolsingham Town Hall, we walk through fields following Waskerley and Thornhope Becks before starting a steady climb up to Park Wall. After crossing a section of open access moorland, we head down through Ladley Wood, across Thornhope Beck and back to Wolsingham via Leaze’s farm. Although the walk is relatively easy it does include a steady climb (200m total ascent) and some open moorland. Note that dogs are not allowed on the open access area - provision is made for a short detour for anyone attending with dogs. Once on the Moors, you are rewarded for your efforts with excellent views across Weardale.

Expected Duration: 3.25hrs
