About the Wolsingham Wayfarers
The Wolsingham Wayfarers were founded in 1993 to look after and promote the 140 miles of designated footpaths in the Parish of Wolsingham and Thornley.
We are a registered charity but do not have any source of income except for the grant aid we apply for to fund walks leaflets and finance footpath repairs. We are staffed entirely by volunteers and pride ourselves on making no charges for any of the work that we do. Our walks leaflets and guided walks are free.
Over the last 28 years we have produced local walking leaflets, conducted works to the path around Wolsingham village (now known as the Family Walk) to make it fully wheelchair and pushchair accessible and monitored the condition of footpaths within the Parish.
We work closely with Landowners and Farmers, Durham County Council and Wolsingham Parish Council to carry out repairs , source funding and commission the appropriate works to maintain access to the Rights of Way.
In addition, we run a programme of free guided walks, on the second Saturday of every month.
